From end-of-year functions and graduations to family holidays and festive plans, December is when clients want a fresh cut more than any other time of year. The busiest shops treat it like a season, not a surprise.
1. Get your tools ready
- Service every clipper and trimmer. Clean, oil and check each one now. See our clipper guide for what good performance looks like.
- Have a backup for every chair. A clipper that dies on a fully booked Saturday costs you a full day of cuts. A second clipper such as the FXDE Barber Edition Clipper is cheap insurance.
- Charge everything overnight and keep chargers at each station.
2. Stock up on blades and consumables
- Replacement blades for your clippers and trimmers, such as the Master Fade and T-Outline detachable blades
- Foil shaver replacement heads if you do skin fades and head shaves
- Guards, capes, neck strips, disinfectant and towels
- Styling products your clients ask for

3. Plan your bookings
- Open December slots early and post them on social media so regulars book ahead.
- Extend your hours on the busiest days, especially the weekends before Christmas and New Year.
- Keep a few walk-in slots each day for clients who leave it to the last minute.
- Set a deposit or cancellation rule for peak slots so no-shows don't cost you money.
4. Look after your team
- Agree on leave and shifts now so nobody is caught short.
- Rotate breaks so every chair stays open but nobody burns out.
- Make sure each barber has their own set of working tools.
5. Hygiene at speed
More clients means more chances for shortcuts. Brush out and disinfect clippers between every client, use a fresh neck strip each time and keep spare clean capes at every station.
